The Same Damn Thing

Posted on September 25, 2019April 20, 2022 by alexis

A short poem on the state of our world, the lack of human connection, and our inevitable betrayal of our world due to the selfishness trained into our society.

Human Life: A Story

Posted on July 16, 2019April 20, 2022 by alexis

I grip the silver metal

in my hands and push

the smooth black plastic

beneath the glassy surface.

It draws ripples,

deep and swirling motions

in the water.

It propels me forward.

The triangular bow pierces

the untouched, green-blue

and the water moves aside for me.

Shifting Scenes

Posted on July 4, 2018April 19, 2022 by alexis

Conversations are forgettable
as soon as they happen.
Scenes shift like pieces of
a movie. Black flashes

Pale Dots

Posted on April 13, 2018April 19, 2022 by alexis

Incessant moon that’s always missed
by city lights, whose signs kiss the darkness
and never let it be.
Yet there it is, palely reflecting
the star that cares little and less of our world.
We are specks on a blue dot and we are home,
but we don’t love our home.

The Pavement

Posted on March 1, 2018April 19, 2022 by alexis

Insightful little wreck,
With your stumbling pity.
You stand up in your high rise
looking down upon the peasants,
and you think, oh, how desolate.
How weak, how underprivileged.

I Am Queen

Posted on November 14, 2017April 19, 2022 by alexis

In his shadow I am Queen, forever vowed as protector and servant, but also as bodily slave. There are pawns and knights, and I am somehow lesser, yet I continue to play. The strategy is my game and he, the final victor. My body, my soul. His glory. What am I? Pawn? Passion? Prayer? I am Taken, and he is coward. I am off the board, so who is my opponent? I look aside for the final move. Now they all see it: Checkmate. #feminism #marriage #queen #knight #pawn #king #chess #game #strategy #poem #ch

The Insensitive Hybrid

Posted on November 7, 2017April 19, 2022 by alexis

Complicated beings build a simplified Existence. Smothering kindness and forever holding our breath for the next knife in our backs. In all that brittle baring we bare our teeth and Burn our hair. Woman, man and the Other stand in pretend unity to preach their cause to empty listeners with texting hands. Inside we are creative, but outside: facades are all we paint, post and preen and Primal are our fears. Social is our angst and our anguish. We say nothing when we Know, and we speak when we kno
