Smell

Posted on May 12, 2022 by alexis

Banana peels and pumpkin guts,
And rotted eggs that smell like butts;
Mushy mushrooms and moldy bread,
A hairy, slimy, lettuce head.
Melted trash in a noonday sun,
Microwave tuna overdone;
Steamed spinach and expired stew,
That’s what you smell like through and through.

Highlight the wind when I breathe,
The sun as I tilt my head,
The plants when I want to feed
And earth when I join the dead…

Posted on May 11, 2022 by alexis

And seek a light to spark each hour…

Warrior

Posted on April 9, 2022April 24, 2022 by alexis

Is it red I seek to deal upon a blade of sharpened steel? Is it death I wish to touch then back a step, avoid death’s rush? Or do I wish to dig up soil to fill with body, let not spoil? Or have I hopes to feel a rain cold and wet and numb of pain? In war I fight and war I die, for if not die, then who am I?

Between Adventures

Posted on April 8, 2022April 20, 2022 by alexis

Listen well to tales we tell between adventures and heroes felled, for in the stories between the lines is where we live our normal lives.
